Tucked up in a bustling alpine valley, Madonna di Campiglio offers outstanding skiing possibilities below the majestic spires of the Dolomiti Mountains. This is Italy's most prestigious ski resort where visitors often will not come especially for skiing here, but to spend time among members of the 'upper class' or just pass their time on walks, attend the swimming pool or take advantage of the huge ice-rink located in the middle of the town. Tourists, who visit Madonna di Campiglio mainly for skiing sensations, have a chance to ski down very sunny trails located on altitude between 1550 - 2500 meters. Even not very experienced skiers can check their skills on the famous "3-Tre" trail.
Madonna di Campiglio is located 160 km (100 miles) from Verona, the nearest international airport. The resort is 210 km (130 miles) from Milan; driving time is about 3.5 hours.
As a most modern ski resort, Madonna di Campiglio is made up of mostly new buildings and has little to offer those seeking diversion other than winter sports, shopping, and nightlife. After an exhausting ski activities however, most of the visitors want just to relax but those with an itch for artwork can visit the Chiesa di San Virgilio in nearby Pinzolo where a 16th-century depiction of The Dance of the Dead creates an interesting façade.

Events
As a purely a skier's destination Madonna di Campiglio can offer non-skiers great night-life, good restaurants, plenty of boutiques and spas. The resort also offers different amusing events such as the Carnevale brimming with fun. It takes place every February with grand balls and costumed revelry. This feast is celebrated throughout northern Italy, most notably in Venice, and Madonna di Campiglio holds its own events related to the event.
